At the New York International Auto Show 2005, an SRT-8 version of the Charger debuted . Powered by a version of 425 hp (317 kW) 6.1 L (370 cu in) Hemi, which also featured upgraded Brembo brakes, with exterior and interior updates. The engine produces 420 lb ft (569 N m) of torque. The net power of 425 modern 6.1 L Hemi makes it more powerful than the legendary Chrysler Hemi engines of the muscle car era, the largest of which was rated at 425 gross horsepower.
