The Peugeot Diesel 407 is always improving. Peugeot Diesel 407's combined enhancements to interior comfort and equipment (front parking assistance, new " World in Peugeot ", navigation and WIP Com telematics systems) included the arrival of the latest 2,0 litre HDi FAP Euro 5 specification engine which is capable of 50,4 mpg, 150g / km of CO2 with power increased to 140 bhp.

A key factor that ensures efficient optimisation is the major engine recalibration carried out on the 1,6 litre HDi FAP unit to obtain a significant reduction of emissions. Achieving 129 g / km of CO2 has been obtained without any change to gear ratios so performance levels and acceleration remain unaffected.
The new unit that now replaces the 2,7 liter V6 Diesel HdI generates 240 Horse power at 3800 rpm and a maximum torque of 450 Nm from 1600 rpm to 3600 rpm.
Beleive it or not this is the most powerful engine ever to be used on a production Peugeot. Equipped with a particle emissions filter and compliant to Euro five standards, the V6 engine Peugeot diesel that is linked to a 6 speed sequential automatic gearbox launches the 4 seater coupe from 0-100 km/h in 7,7 sec and on to a top speed of 240 km / h.

Even though power is increased by 18% over the 2,7 liter V7 HDi, Peugeot claims a 15% reduction in fuel consumption announcing a combined figure of 7,2 litres per 100 km ( 32,7 mpg US or 39,2 mpg UK ) with CO2 emissions of 189g / km instead of 225g / km on the previous model.
