2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T Specs, News, and Review...

2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T
Better than ever in 2011 thanks to leading ABS technology: the long-distance KTM 990 Supermoto T.
From its launch in the spring of 2009, the KTM 990 Supermoto T triggered a flood of enthusiastic comments. Reaching another sport motorcycle milestone for KTM, its new and unique concept was the first to combine the dynamism of an agile Supermoto with the benefits of a true long distance touring motorcycle.
The incredibly versatile two-cylinder Supermoto enters the biking season of 2011 with a decisive innovation. An ABS braking system tailored specifically for the requirements of the KTM Supermoto  makes for perfect deceleration under any conditions, rendering the 990 the Queen of negative acceleration without sacrificing any of its vigor.
Exciting & Sophisticated
The state-of-the-art, liquid-cooled V-Twin with KTMs typical, favorable cylinder angle of 75 remains at the core of the long-distance Supermoto. Weighing in at an unrivalled 58kg, the 999cc, 115 bhp engine stands for crushing power, high refinement and impressive control. In a nutshell: exhilarating performance in a sophisticated package. And just what the special concept of the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T requires.
Looking at the chassis, the latest issue of the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T also delivers exactly what KTM riders expect: stability all the way up to top speed; a top quality suspension that soaks up every bump while delivering a crisp feedback; ultra-precise steering; and above all, as befits a true Supermoto, superior flickability. This effortlessness is achieved by purposely eliminating any and all unnecessary components, finding smart design solutions, and using only first rate materials.
At a curb weight of 197 kilos including the ABS, the 2011 model remains below the magical 200 kilo margin, an impressive demonstration of the KTM developers prowess and ambition.

High End Deceleration Support
Some of the credit for the low weight is due to the anti-lock braking system, available for the first time on the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T, that weighs in at only one kilogram. In close collaboration with specialist supplier Bosch, the latest-generation dual channel system has been specifically adapted to the requirements of a very sporty Supermoto.
It is matched to a high-performance Brembo braking system with radial four pot calipers on 305mm discs, tailored to deliver outstanding control and awesome stopping power. The result is a sensitive ABS braking system that lets the 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T stop safely and with pinpoint accuracy on any surface and from any speed. Equipped with rollover detection, the functions of the KTM-Bosch system have been purposely designed not to interfere with an aggressive riding style. Deploying only in truly extreme situations, it will keep out of your way as long as the surface is dry and provides sufficient grip. The system may also be switched off at any time for off-road outings.
Production of 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T, now available with ABS in high gloss orange, white, or black, will commence in February, 2011. As befits its wide range of uses, KTM offers a multitude of bespoke parts and equipment from its range of PowerParts accessories, be it in order to enhance the sporty credentials even further or to add even more touring capabilities. The 2011 KTM 990 Supermoto T remains the first choice for the most extensive riding enjoyment on any road, at any speed, and as of 2011 in any weather.
